Professional rock/alpine climber, skier, paraglider Liv Sansoz lives by the words of former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln: “It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” At age 15, Liv climbed the Mt Blanc, and at age 18 she won her first World Championship in sport climbing. In recent years, the soft-spoken and humble Chamonix resident has become an accomplished paraglider, which allows her to see her beloved mountains from yet another vantage point.
In 2017, Liv will—together with a revolving list of good friends—climb, ski and paraglide all of the 82 summits above 4000 meters in the Alps.
Completing a project of this scale requires the appropriate gear. For all the winter ascents and descents Liv will use a set of lightweight skis, ski boots and poles together with skins, helmet and goggles. For safety, she’ll also have a beacon, probe, shovel and the gear needed for glacier travel on skis. A 35 liter backpack will complete the technical equipment. Apparel is very important for Liv. It has to be protective, breathable and light. Salomon develops a wide range of mountaineering equipment, apparel and gear for everyone from entry level climbers to professional mountaineers.
